Marrying Christie & Simon

A Magical Wedding at the Chinese Garden of Friendship: Simon & Christie’s Love Story

There’s something truly special about witnessing two souls come together in love, and as a bilingual marriage celebrant in Sydney, I have the privilege of officiating many heartwarming ceremonies. On a beautiful day at the Chinese Garden of Friendship in Darling Harbour, I had the honor of uniting Simon and Christie in marriage—a couple whose journey began in the most unexpected way.

A Love Story Written by Fate

We now come to the moment of how they got here today.

Simon and Christie's story began eight years ago in the most unlikely of circumstances. Christie, nursing a sprained ankle, walked into Simon’s office expecting to see his boss—but fate had other plans. Instead, she was booked in with Simon, and while he insists he was nothing but professional, that moment marked the start of something truly special.

Their first date was anything but smooth. Simon was late—his phone was locked in the car, leaving Christie to wonder if she was being ghosted. Then, Christie ended up paying for dinner, only to later discover that Simon had already watched the movie they saw—with someone else—just a week before! To top it all off, he didn’t even walk her to her car.

Yet, despite all of that, Christie showed up for a second date—and many more after. Because true love isn’t about perfection; it’s about showing up for each other, time and time again.

A Relationship Built on Love and Resilience

Through the years, Simon and Christie’s bond grew stronger. One defining moment was when Christie suffered first-degree burns to her face. Simon, who had never taken a day off work, immediately dropped everything to be by her side. Despite Christie’s fears that he wouldn’t want to stay with her, Simon proved her wrong in the best way possible—by standing by her, through thick and thin.

Over time, they discovered what they truly admired about each other. Christie adores Simon’s easy-going nature, unwavering support, and that smile that makes everything better. Simon cherishes Christie’s kindness, selflessness, and her deep love for those around her. Together, they have built a life full of love, adventure, and laughter—marked by drive-in movie dates, Korean BBQ nights, and late-night McDonald’s runs. They’ve achieved milestones, including buying their first home and taking care of their beloved pet, Tookie.

A Ceremony Filled with Love and Meaning

When Simon and Christie reached out to me four months ago, I had the pleasure of getting to know them and crafting a ceremony that truly reflected their love story. It was an honor to stand before their closest friends and family, sharing the beautiful journey that led them to this moment.

As they exchanged vows in the serene setting of the Chinese Garden of Friendship in Darling Harbour, it was clear that their love was one of patience, devotion, and unwavering commitment. It was a privilege to be a part of such a touching occasion, witnessing a love that has withstood challenges and grown even stronger over the years.
